9. 'DIVIDED WE FALL' DOCUMENTARY: September 23, 2008

SABA-SC is proud to host a screening of Divided We Fall (DWF), the world renowned documentary that shows the effects on the South Asian community post 9/11.

Winner of more than a dozen international awards, Divided We Fall is "an illuminating meditation upon what it has meant to be 'one of us' since September 11" (Harold Hongju Koh, Dean of Yale Law School).

About DWF:

Driven to action by the murder of a turbaned man in her community, a college student drives across America in the aftermath of 9/11 to discover stories that did not make the evening news. From the still-shocked streets of Ground Zero to the desert towns of the American West, Valarie Kaur's inspiring journey uncovers remarkable stories of hate violence, fear, and unspeakable loss – until she finds the heart of America halfway around the world in the words of widow. Divided We Fall deftly explores race, religion, and what it means to be American in times of national crisis.

Divided We Fall has premiered in 60 cities around the world and opened up spaces for deep dialogue and storytelling at nearly 100 universities, festivals, and schools across America. It has been featured on CNN, NPR, and the BBC, and earned critical acclaim. The power of the story has inspired a campaign to bring the film to every state across America during the upcoming September 11th anniversary.

You may go to http://dwf-film.com for more information.
