Congratulations to Judge Taiyyeba Skomra, current SABA-SC co-president, on being formally sworn in as an Immigration Judge at the North Los Angeles Immigration Court within the U.S. Department of Justice’s Executive Office for Immigration Review. Prior to joining the bench, she practiced the full spectrum of immigration law and represented a wide variety of clients, from entrepreneurs to asylees, in administrative proceedings and federal courts across the country. Since 2015, she has been a certified specialist in Immigration and Nationality Law through the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization. From 2011 to 2022, she was a senior associate and then partner at SGG Immigration LLP in Los Angeles, after practicing for several years in Chicago. Judge Skomra is a member of the State Bars of California, Illinois, and Washington. She graduated from Mount Holyoke College, magna cum laude, and from the University of Washington School of Law. Judge Skomra’s family and friends attended the investiture ceremony on February 6, 2023.
