SABA-SC strongly condemns the horrific murders of eight individuals in and around the Atlanta metropolitan area. Our hearts are with the families of the victims, the Atlanta community, and the broader Asian American community. These acts of hate violence cannot be viewed in isolation. They are part of a deeply disturbing trend of discrimination and violence against the Asian American community brought to light in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
SABA-SC, along with its local sister bar organizations, recently sent a letter to the Speaker of the California State Assembly, urging the state to condemn, and take concrete steps to combat, the escalating racist and xenophobic attacks on the Asian American community. SABA-SC stands in solidarity with the Asian American community, and renews its urgent call for our political leaders to take action to address these pervasive issues.
